Accommodation

We are getting married in one of the most beautiful little corners of the country – the part of Dalarna where Hälsingland, Gästrikland, and Dalarna meet. This is also the bride’s home region for so many generations that it’s probably a good thing the groom is originally from Bohuslän.

With that said, the nearest town with city status and hotels is more than 30 km to the south, which is why we do not recommend staying in Falun.

There are closer options to choose from. If you’re going for the budget-friendly alternative, harvest season will be over, which means there will be a "linn" available (a meadow where hay has been cut) to pitch a tent. Space for caravans or motorhomes can also be arranged. There is no water or electricity, but a newly built outhouse, courtesy of the groom, will be provided.

Address: Mörkängesvägen 14, Linghed
(within rolling distance from Bystugan – it’s even downhill)

If you prefer something a bit more comfortable, Trollnäs Gårdshotell is a great option. It is located approximately 4 km from Bystugan – a very manageable cycling distance and a somewhat less comfortable walking distance.

Website: trollnasgardshotell.se

Other accommodation options include Airbnb (search for Linghed), Caravan Club of Sweden – Smednästet in Linghed (caravanclub.se), and Svabensverks Herrgård (svabensverksherrgard.se).

Transportation

The nearest train station is Falun, and yes, there are one or two buses to the more central parts of the municipality – but we strongly recommend having your own car. If many guests end up staying in the same place, we may be able to jointly arrange transportation home from the celebration.

Once again, the nearest city is Falun, and unlike in the 17th century, it is hardly one of the country’s largest cities anymore. Taxis are therefore few, and those willing to pick you up in Linghed are even fewer unless booked well in advance.

Lest ye be warned…

Dress Code

Dress code: Lounge suit

Lounge suit typically means a suit for men (tie optional) and an equivalent level of formality for women, such as a dress, skirt, or tailored suit. The overall style should be elegant but not overly formal.

Please note that the couple will be getting married wearing traditional regional folk costumes (sockendräkt). Guests are more than welcome to do the same (which everyone from Dalarna already knows), but for everyone else, a minimum level of formality has therefore been set.

Children

Children of all ages are welcome. Please note, however, that no special arrangements will be made for small two-legged guests, and alcohol will be served during the celebration. We leave it up to you to decide whether the church ceremony and the party are suitable for your children.

The most important thing is that everyone who attends truly enjoys themselves.

Plus Ones & Invitations

All guests who have been invited individually are welcome to bring a guest if they wish. It is also perfectly fine to attend on your own – what matters most to us is that you want to be there.

Just remember, when responding to the invitation, to submit an RSVP for any guest you bring along, so that there is food for everyone.

Drinks

A sparkling welcome drink (with or without alcohol) will be served, as well as one drink with the meal (beer, wine, or soft drink). In addition, beer, wine, and soft drinks will be available for purchase at cost.

If you are particular about your drink preferences and do not fully trust our judgement, you are also welcome to bring your own beverages – BYO (private event).
